Meies Matz
Curriculum Developer
The Learning & Development Projects

Meies is blessed to be the daughter of elders and ancestors who guide her path and mother of three beautiful children who walk beside her in this life.

Her motto is “how can I be of service” and this outlook has served to guide her path over the last 33 years in her work to insure just and equitable treatment for vulnerable populations.

Being of service has translated into tangible actions that promote wellbeing, equity, and inclusion. To support these efforts, her career has spanned working for the USDA as a data analyst, working at Florence Crittenton House in San Francisco with Domestic Violence and Substance Abuse mothers, sitting on the Oregon’s Governors Equity Task Force, and serving as a board member on the International Foundation Task Force for the office of the mayor in Beaverton, Oregon; to the Disproportionality Project Manager for the Oregon Department of Human Services.

Beyond the scope of government work, Meies feels that community engagement and support is critical to social wellbeing, in particular the needs of vulnerable populations. To that end she spent four years serving on the board of the Lupus Foundation of America, Pacific Northwest Chapter; time as a Lupus Research Program (PRMRP) Scientific Peer Reviewer for the Department of Defense (DoD) CDMRP to help evaluate the potential impact of proposed research studies, and describe the critical problem or question in the relevant focus area(s) for lupus patients; and five years serving on the National Adult Protective Services Assoc. (NAPSA)/ National Committee for Prevention of Elder Abuse (NCPEA) Research Committee.

Currently Meies sits on the Kaiser Permanente Research Bank (KPRB) National Community Advisory Board (NCAB) as a community Advisor.
